An oiled oak surface is meant to be touched and used. Unlike lacquer, it can be refreshed at home, so small marks become part of its story rather than permanent damage.
Every week
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe spills straight away with a damp cloth and dry along the grain.
Once or twice a year
Clean the surface with a mild soap solution and let it dry. Apply a thin coat of hardwax oil with a lint-free cloth, leave it for a few minutes, then buff off the excess.
Oak does not need to be protected from life. It needs a little care, now and then.
Always follow the care instructions that come with your piece: finishes differ.
